Work permits are no longer needed for temporary residents in Russia 06.12.2012

On November 28, 2012 the draft law on "Changes to the Federal law on legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation" and on expiration of subclause "ж", Clause 5, Part 1 of the Federal Law as of May 19, 2010 on № 86-FZ on "Changes to the Federal law on legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation" and some other legal acts has been published in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.  
 
According to the changes in the draft law, foreign citizens both from visa and visa-free countries, who have temporary residence permit in Russia no longer need to obtain work permits. 
 
Still their labor activity is limited by the region where temporary residence permit has been issued, except those going on business trip to another region of Russia within the conditions, indicated in the Order of Minzdravsotsrazvitiya as of July 28, 2012 N564n.
 
The Federal law will come into force after its official publication. On November 23, 2102 the draft law has been considered by the State Duma in the first reading.
