Latvia plans to resume flights with Russia from March 17, 2021 10.03.2021

The Latvian government has announced that the country plans to resume flights with third countries, including Russia, from March 17, 2021. Сharter flights will also be allowed.

The Latvian government justified its proposal to lift the ban on flights to third countries by the fact that Estonia and Lithuania allow passenger transportation to and from third countries. The government notes that in practice there is a situation when residents of Latvia travel to third countries, using the possibilities of transit through neighboring states.

The authorities also note that when boarding a plane, a negative PCR test for COVID-19, issued no later than 72 hours before boarding, will be required, and it will be necessary to present a QR code confirming the completion of the application form.

It is necessary to observe 10 days of self-isolation when entering Latvia from countries "with a serious threat to health." The current list of such countries can be found here.

We also draw your attention to the fact that Russia has not yet announced the resumption of flights with Latvia on a parity basis.
