State Duma passes in first reading a bill simplifying entry procedures for close relatives of Russian citizens 18.05.2021

Following the news about the draft law simplifying the entry procedure for close relatives of Russian citizens, it was adopted by the State Duma of the Russian Federation on 17 March 2021 in its first reading.

The draft law № 1024217-7 is dedicated to simplifying the procedure for issuing ordinary private visas, increasing their multiplicity and period of validity, as well as the period of stay on the territory of the Russian Federation for foreign citizens who are close relatives of Russian citizens.

In particular, the amendments provide for the possibility to issue multiple-entry long-term private visas to foreign citizens who are close relatives (spouses, parents, children, adoptive parents, full and half-siblings, grandparents, grandchildren) of Russian citizens, on the basis of a written application by a Russian citizen to enter the Russian Federation for the above category of foreign citizens without the need to issue invitations through the territorial authority of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The second reading of the bill will involve consideration of the deputies' proposed amendments, so the final version of the law may still be revised. We keep a close eye on updates and will keep you informed of any changes.
