Traveling abroad for minors has become much easier 08.07.2021

On July 1, 2021, Vladimir Putin signed Federal Law No. 268-FZ "On Amendments to the Federal Law" On the Procedure for Exiting the Russian Federation and Entering the Russian Federation".

This law significantly simplifies the procedure for a child to travel abroad with one parent. If earlier it was necessary to provide a notarized consent for traveling abroad from the second parent, and if the child travels without them, then from both official representatives, now the consent or presence of only one parent or guardian during the trip is sufficient.

However, if one of the official representatives does not allow his child to travel abroad, he or she can submit an advising statement of disagreement, which will indicate whether this statement applies to all countries or only to certain ones. In addition, this statement may be withdrawn out of court. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will establish this revocation procedure.

Disputes concerning the disagreement of a parent or guardian of a minor to his travelling abroad, as before, are resolved only in court.

This legislative act entered into force from the moment of signing, i.e. from July 1.
