On March 25, 2011 the Federal Law N42 as of March 20, 2011 "About the changes to the Federal law 'On migration register (registration) of foreign citizens on the territory of Russia' and other legislative acts of Russia" came into force.
According to the new Law the right to register foreign nationals on the actual address of the organization in which he/she works or arrives to for any other purposes was returned to the organizations.
The period within which a foreign citizen shall be registered after crossing the border or arriving at a new place of stay increased from 3 to 7 working days.
Highly Qualified Specialists owning the apartment, can register themselves and their family members at the place of their living.
According to the new Law, the fines for the violation of the migration register (registration) procedures, imposed on foreign nationals no longer exist.
The period of Highly Qualified Specialists temporary stay from visa free country and their family members on the territory of Russia is limited only by the period of the employee’s work permit validity.
