Procedure for decision on the extension/reduction of the period of stay of foreigners in Russia changed 23.08.2021

According to the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia of July 30, 2021 No. 581 "On Amendments to the Procedure for Making a Decision on the Extension or Reduction of the Period of Temporary Stay of a Foreign Citizen or Stateless Person in Russia, approved by Order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia No. 933 of December 18, 2017" the extension of the period of temporary stay is submitted to the migration department of MVD of Russia at the place of stay of a foreign citizen or at the location of an educational organisation.

Applicants in this case can be:
  • federal state educational organisations where this person is studying at the preparatory department / under the additional program;
  • educational organisations where such a foreign citizen is studying under the program of secondary special / higher education;
  • established organisations included in the list established by the Government of the Russia;
  • educational organisations to which a foreign citizen is accepted or transferred for education.
Also, the list of documents, which can confirm the studying of a foreign citizen in an educational organisation, and their copies has been updated. Nowadays, such a document can be an order for admission to any of the programs approved by the law, an order for transfer into another organisation, an order for expulsion from the educational organisation in connection with the end of studying.
