The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia signed Order No. 926 dated November 22, 2021 "On approval of the Procedure for making a decision on the extension or reduction of the period of temporary stay of a foreign citizen or stateless person in Russia."
Among other things, this order describes the procedure for extending the period of stay in Russia (if a foreign citizen from a visa-free country has a relative, a citizen of Russia) which includes the following:
- Writing an application or petition in any form indicating the full name, date of birth, citizenship, number of the identity document, date of issue and validity period, residence address, document confirming family ties;
- Submitting an application to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on migration issues;
- Consideration of the application of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (consideration period is 3 working days);
- Making a positive or negative decision.
This order entered into force, like many other changes, on December 29, 2021.
